Leadership really does start with you. It's simple, but it's not easy.

To become a better leader of others, you must first become a better leader of yourself.

So why isn’t everyone doing it?

Because the toughest person you will ever have to lead is yourself.

Self-leadership requires honesty, discipline, and the courage to acknowledge and address your own blind spots. It means taking responsibility for your attitudes, choices, habits, and growth. That kind of work is demanding, and many avoid it.

Yet Scripture reminds us, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant” (Mark 10:43). Before we serve others well, we must learn to steward our own lives faithfully.

After more than 30 years of leadership, I’ve learned this truth again and again:

The better I lead myself, the better I lead others.

Growth never stops, and neither should our commitment to becoming leaders worth following.
